“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
Michelangelo, a great artist, born on the same day like yours truly...an inspiration, always has been, always will be: My dad and I read his biography instead of the bible when he prepared me for communion back in the days.
We went on a week long trip. The first half we hiked through the marble mountains near Carracas, Italy, read Michelangelo's biography and walked in silence. My dad used to say: A mountain climber does one thing at a time. When he shits, he shits, when he walks he walks, when he eats he eats...' Then I had this encounter with the bumble bee. A truly mystifying experience, comparable to initiation rites experiences in many tribes that I read of. Finding your animal.
Bumble bees fly although, scientifically they can't. They are too heavy. Isn't that marvelous???
Then we went to Firenze, Florence, my beloved sweet Firenze, the Duomo, the wonderful cathedral of the holy lady, the beautiful camping site in which birds woke me up with their amazing songs in the morning, the many churches, little streets, sculptures and paintings we visited in honor of Michelangelo and his beautiful city, my father always there for me to talk to me about whatever was burning in my heart. I was deep into philosophical and spiritual questions back then, in many ways closer to who I feel I am than now. It makes me almost cry and sigh.
But God's ways are strange but wonderful, I am still a big fan of life and curious as to what will happen in my 24 th year, being 23, a wonderful number, isn't it...
this is to honor my parents, on my birthday, which is their birthday
